Charley is quite the poetic one!

GoodKaptainKook 8th Jan 2021, 12:01 AM
Danny's :D

Sheesh, Charley, lighten up man. You wanna drive a big wedge between you and your sister considering you two have been close your whole life? You're working very hard to do that...
WCP 8th Jan 2021, 12:02 AM
Leeroy may be a dragon, but Charley is truly one who truly spits fire 🔥
Fox-Jake 8th Jan 2021, 12:02 AM
Charlie is a better lyricist than me.
FreyFox 8th Jan 2021, 1:33 AM
That makes two of us ^^;

Lucas the Doctor
Nice poetry!

Also, I know what that rhyme she's talking about is... 0_o
WCP 8th Jan 2021, 1:38 AM
We all do Lucas. We all do ;)

Random observation, but Sasha's face in panel 2 is too adorable for words. Nothing like a good meal to make you feel better again.
FreyFox 8th Jan 2021, 1:33 AM
Ain’t that the truth ^^

Seems kind of, um, irreconcilable! I guess someone's not gonna put time on his calendar to show up at her wedding.
Shaggy 8th Jan 2021, 2:22 AM
I wish I could rhyme, but I don't have the time...
I'm sorrry XD
WaxBadger 8th Jan 2021, 2:49 AM
Charley, your sister may be out of jail but she will never know freedom if you continue to force your influence on her. She's ready for a new life and with Reggie's help she will cut you off if you won't respect that.
Foxx Trotter 8th Jan 2021, 4:47 AM
Yes, I noticed...the lyrical gangsta. ;0P

Dr. Seuss wrote snarky poetry and quirky pictures for decades before he would become famous for doing children's books. But I get the impression he was not a nice person to know.
kennethsarmstrong 8th Jan 2021, 4:27 PM
Don't forget that Dr. Seuss also drew propaganda art during World War II.

Or did you base your opinion upon the book Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now!? This book was about a dog who has worn out his welcome, but finally left when he decided it was time to do so. It was published four months before the 1972 Presidential election. Two years later, Dr. Seuss authorized Art Buchwald to make a parody of the book cover. Art Buchwald used this to publish an article demanding the resignation of Richard Nixon.

The book was also referenced during the 2008 election. It became apparent that Barack Obama would win the Democratic nomination for President. The calls for Hillary Clinton to concede to Obama grew louder until Obama gained enough delegates to win the nomination.

I should read his earlier work, although most of it is likely out of print.

From what I’ve read about him, Dr. Seuss was a prick indeed.
kennethsarmstrong 9th Jan 2021, 6:13 AM
I have only read his storybooks. Considering that he lent one of his book covers for a mid-1974 article, you might be right. As I said, I need to read some of his earlier works.

A lot of dedication just to say he doesn't approve of his sister's tastes, lucky they haven't boned yet otherwise that poem would've been more blunt to the point.
FreyFox 8th Jan 2021, 11:14 AM
You might want to read strip 579 again XD.

I checked the archives and I did see them both in the back of their "rental car".

That begs the question of why Charley's Quattro was seized. I guess that the vehicle was co-registered in Sasha's name.

Does Reggie Charley hate Reggie that much to use a racial slur? (I know that phrase referred to British sailors, then to Brits in general. I am not sure whether this phrase is considered offensive in British circles.)
WCP 9th Jan 2021, 2:22 AM
Why yes indeed. Reggie Harvey hates himself so much he will call himself a limey.
FreyFox 9th Jan 2021, 1:18 PM
"Reggie hate Reggie"?!
kennethsarmstrong 9th Jan 2021, 2:32 PM
My browser's autocorrect function malfunctioned 🙄😴😵. I meant to say that Charley referred to Reggie as a limey.

The term "limey" was used by Americans to refer to British sailors who drank a mix of rum and lime juice to prevent scurvy. It was later used to refer to British citizens in general.

It is similar to Australians referring to British citizens as "poms". The term is still used in Australia. Americans rarely use the term " limey" now.

I hope that you do not take offense 🙄😳. I looked up the term on Wikipedia to make sure that I knew what Charley was talking about.
Anon 10th Jan 2021, 8:50 PM
Right...it’s the autocorrect that’s the problem 😒
kennethsarmstrong 13th Jan 2021, 4:37 AM
I have had problems with autocorrect. I type in one word, but it changes it to another. I then have to change that correction.

I could also have been half-asleep when I typed in that post. I check for mistakes, but one usually slips through.
Tjimmy1999 8th Jan 2021, 9:25 PM
Oh right. I kept thinking he was just cuddling her naked like with Howard. Charley will definitely be livid now.
FreyFox 9th Jan 2021, 2:10 AM
Only now? :P he can put two and two together to make four y’know ^^
kennethsarmstrong 9th Jan 2021, 6:17 AM
Who cares what he thinks? If Charley forces her to choose between him and Reggie, she would certainly choose Reggie.
