I read the news today, oh boy...

GoodKaptainKook 19th Jun 2020, 12:02 AM
I guess we're going to see how life's treating Reg out in the Land of the Rising Sun in this arc? He's kind of been out of the picture for long enough...

It's sweet that he keeps a picture of Sasha at his bedside. Hopefully those two will get the chance to be reunited soon :) (It's not going to be too much longer until her release from prison, right?)
FreyFox 19th Jun 2020, 1:20 AM
Hopefully not ^^.
kennethsarmstrong 22nd Jun 2020, 1:22 AM
Sasha needs to behave for the remainder of her term. She was lucky she was sentenced to four more months on top of her fourteen-month sentence. She could have been sentenced to two additional years instead.
Jake Elmer 19th Jun 2020, 12:03 AM
It just occurred to me,
Does Reggie miss Jason?
FreyFox 19th Jun 2020, 1:21 AM
Absolutely :)
David31 19th Jun 2020, 12:45 AM
Seems like Reggie is doing well for himself. :)
WaxBadger 19th Jun 2020, 12:51 AM
There's so much to be said about what Reggie was up to when he was out here, looks like he was doing welding work.
Thomas K Dye 19th Jun 2020, 1:12 AM
"He's got legs, he knows how to use 'em…"
FreyFox 19th Jun 2020, 1:21 AM
And it's not the first time we've seen him riding a bike either ^^
kennethsarmstrong 19th Jun 2020, 1:41 AM
Reggie seems to be bored enough to be experiencing a Groundhog Day moment. Spencer Case has kept Reggie under wraps and incommunicado since leaving Los Angeles. What could possibly go wrong?

I know that Reggie wanted to help Sasha, but I think that Spencer will do what it takes to keep his father safe. If things go south Reggie will likely be holding the bag. At least Reggie is keeping busy by working on auto detailing.

I mean, the only way things will go south would be if Trevor's band decides to do an Asian tour with Japan being one of the stops
kennethsarmstrong 22nd Jun 2020, 1:05 AM
And then Trevor makes the mistake of trying to bring some weed with him. With any luck, he and Zombie Karma will either be deported or arrested before they can make it to Nagoya.

It is safe to assume that Reggie had the sense to keep Trevor in the dark about his stay in Japan.

(A few years back, Paris Hilton was refused entry into Japan after getting caught with marijuana in her private plane.)

“Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire...”

That song remains #1 in the Beatles Top 100 on the Sirius XM Beatles Channel to date since they started doing it annually three years ago.
kennethsarmstrong 19th Jun 2020, 11:49 PM
I thought this song was called "A Day in the Life". The lyrics quoted above were from that song.

Vevo has this song posted on YouTube. I will listen to it later.
Foxx Trotter 25th Jun 2020, 11:06 PM
Yes...it is titled "A Day in the Life".

I was just quoting the next lyric in the verse.
Long Tom 20th Jun 2020, 12:30 AM
The Beatles were mocking a newspaper account about how bad the roads were in that particular vicinity at the time.
Excelsior_Thirty 19th Jun 2020, 2:50 AM
Well, he's rooming with someone... Let's see who the tanuki is and how much of an influence he has on Reggie and on the arc...
(Hopefully I'm right that it's tanuki- if not, it can be a gray red panda, or a longshot-raccoon.)
FreyFox 19th Jun 2020, 11:07 AM
He's in shared accommodation. He has his own room but the bathrooms and kitchen are shared between him and several others.
Excelsior_Thirty 19th Jun 2020, 9:27 PM
So in that case, it can be a little bit like his old home in Stoke-on-Trent; only he's in a dorm-like setting and being with acquaintances.
Of course, there's a difference between them and friends, and those that share a place can be a either one of those, but it can happen that they can be just there and not interact to be an acquaintance...
(Who would want that in sharing a place?)
kennethsarmstrong 24th Jun 2020, 4:51 AM
Reggie is living in the equivalent of a high-efficiency apartment. Japanese law makes real estate very expensive. A builder will, therefore, build a building with as many apartments crammed in as possible.

Reggie's building is unusual as it has communal bathrooms and kitchens on each floor rather than both in each apartment.
kennethsarmstrong 19th Jun 2020, 11:58 PM
Maybe he is a raccoon. Red pandas can have albino coats, although that is very rare. Tanuki can have brown and beige fur patterns. Sometimes they can also have grey and black fur patterns as well.

I wonder if he could be an arctic fox. He does not have a "mask" around his eyes.
FreyFox 20th Jun 2020, 11:55 PM
The character in the shared accommodation is a sort of raccoon/tanuki, though you can only see him from behind. The one in the bar is a tanuki.
kennethsarmstrong 21st Jun 2020, 4:27 AM
I will take your word for it. Usually, even grey and black tanuki have a "mask" on them, although they are sometimes born without one.
oletobyboy 19th Jun 2020, 2:51 AM
I hoep Reggie gets to see Sacha soon. And naked Reggie. :)
Shaggy 19th Jun 2020, 2:56 PM
He seems to have adapted to living in Japan
FreyFox 20th Jun 2020, 12:53 AM
He's had plenty of time to :)
kennethsarmstrong 20th Jun 2020, 4:38 AM
I checked your archive, and that grey fur standing behind Reggie looks a little like that wolf from Spencer's crew. Having him with Reggie is risky, but someone needs to keep an eye on Reggie.
FreyFox 20th Jun 2020, 10:48 AM
it's not the same character. The colours of the arms and ears are different.
maxgoof 20th Jun 2020, 11:38 AM
I was wondering when we were coming back to Reg.
FreyFox 20th Jun 2020, 11:56 PM
Yes it's been quite some time!
ZsewqTheWolf 22nd Jun 2020, 10:15 PM
are you going to show him how different Japan is from everything like how you can get your food in vending machines, to the fast-food japan belt food bar and more?
FreyFox 23rd Jun 2020, 12:22 AM
Not exactly no XD
ZsewqTheWolf 24th Jun 2020, 2:37 PM
i want to see that of regs enjoying things from japan how some things are ok there but not to the rest of the world
ZsewqTheWolf 22nd Jun 2020, 10:51 PM
also when we are going to see regs see the Bosozoku cars1
kennethsarmstrong 24th Jun 2020, 5:03 AM
Actually, Bosozoku are the equivalent of the American Hell's Angels. They are more into motorcycles.

I hope Reggie does not find out about drifting. Drifting involves racing while making hard turns on corners and hills.
FreyFox 24th Jun 2020, 10:44 AM
Reggie is familiar with far eastern culture, there's hints of that in earlier episodes. He's definitely familiar with drifting ^^.
kennethsarmstrong 24th Jun 2020, 3:11 PM
I hope he does not participate in one of those races. Remember how Charlie and Sasha both got into trouble over their drag racing 🐀?
ZsewqTheWolf 24th Jun 2020, 1:49 PM
i know about the gangs thing given that the 1st gen was old ww2 fighter aircarft that was told to kill themself to take down ship and that didn't happen.... ya you can see why a gang was made
maxgoof 23rd Jun 2020, 11:32 AM
Now I'm curious what he's having for breakfast.

The usual is a bowl of rice with either an egg, fish flakes, or both.
FreyFox 24th Jun 2020, 10:44 AM
All bran
kennethsarmstrong 24th Jun 2020, 12:36 PM
I did not know that All-Bran was available in Japan. I guess Reggie had a supply sent from the USA, and I am sure that it was expensive to get.

I remember watching a special on the American TV network NHK World on the making of fish flakes. It also noted that its importation into the EU has been prohibited over cancer concerns. There have also been efforts to make fish flakes in the EU that could pass regulations.
FreyFox 25th Jun 2020, 12:36 AM
He doesn’t need to import them, you can buy bran cereals in Japan that are made in Japan. When I was in Japan I remember having bran sticks for cereal.
GoodKaptainKook 25th Jun 2020, 6:37 AM
I wonder if Reggie ever has jelly-filled donuts...err, I mean onigiri as a snack?

(Thanks Pokemon for totally bastardizing that Japanese snack in the English dub of the anime, lol. What poor sap thought they looked like donuts? :D)
kennethsarmstrong 25th Jun 2020, 1:37 PM
The same thing happened with the film Pom Poko. The original English dubbed version of the film referred to the tanuki characters as raccoons. (Tanuki look like raccoons but they are more related to American red foxes.) The director of the film was unhappy with that change. He later insisted upon more creative control for his later films when they were adapted into English.
kennethsarmstrong 26th Jun 2020, 1:59 PM
Onigiri do not even have jelly in them. The insides of onigiri are usually made of rice. This is what happens when an animé is adapted for American English-speaking audiences without doing any research.

When Space Crusiser Yamato was adapted for American audiences, it was renamed Star Blazers; the Yamato was renamed the Argo. This change was understandable since memories of World War II were way too fresh in Americans' memories.
kennethsarmstrong 25th Jun 2020, 1:11 PM
Many American expatriates live in Japan, mostly around bases in Okinawa. That would make All-Bran popular enough to make it worth Kellogg's time to build a plant in Japan and sell it and their other cereals domestically.
kennethsarmstrong 26th Jun 2020, 2:07 AM
I never thought that All-Bran would be available in Japan. However, Kellogg's makes localized versions of their cereals worldwide, including Japan.
WOLFMASTA 25th Jun 2020, 7:33 AM
this is kinda sad but so far i have loved every comic. Good Job Frey!!
FreyFox 25th Jun 2020, 10:43 AM
You're welcome! :)
