When I was that age playing indoors with my friends on a sunny day was always vigorously discouraged. :P

I'll bet it was great to have an uncle that bails them out of trouble like that. LOL.

I wish the rules of playing outside being discouraged applied
When I was a kid. It's so hot you can cook a burger on the dash of your car.

Probably the exact opposite is true for most parents today? :D The obesity epidemic continues to grow and grow, so it's not hard for me to imagine parents these days actively shielding their kids from the outdoors...

When I was a kid I couldn't exactly go out and play all that often. I have-and have ALWAYS had-hideously deformed feet that keep me from being TOO physically active :(

Also, LOL at how their uncle didn't even bother listening to them trying to explain their situation. That seems...typical for adults when it comes to kids, sadly! Not that I think the twins were complaining too much until they got back home, mind you :D

...Is Paul still alive in the present day? I don't think we've ever seen him in any current day strips; outside this arc I only recall him appearing in that one 'Gladiators' strip and that took place in the past as well. Makes me wonder...

I did intend to include Paul in the wedding story but ultimately he was cut out as I didn't really have the character developed much at the time. He's still alive, I just haven't decided what he's doing XD.

It was the same deal for me when I was that age. My mother didn't want me to sit around playing video games, rather she wanted me to go outside and do something to keep active. Mothers, man.

I prefer to stay indoors. Why? Because it has a PS4, GTA 5, iphone, TV, and the best part, THE INTERNET. Can't live without the internet. As for the boys, at least their uncle got them playing soccer. If I was there mom, id ground them from technology. Not being able to play soccer dosent sound much of a punishment. And I wonder what the boys got grounded for?... Something to do with at school? XD

Apart from TV none of these things existed back in 1992 :P And in the UK unless you had cable or satellite you'd only have had four channels to choose from!

This scene rings very familiar to me too, though for slightly different reasons. If I spent too much time studying, my mother would complain I wasn't getting enough fresh air and exercise. However she'd conveniently change her tune if my father asked why I wasn't doing my homework. I couldn't win. Worse still all the hobbies I preferred were indoor anyway.

Wow! Uncle Paul must be the fun uncle. :D

And why are the twins grounded? It's because of what did in class a few strips ago?

meanwhile in a 300 million smell city of Fresno.

"Kids don't play inside your grounded?!" kid "But mom outside is where all the smiley hobo live and those guys wearing red clothing are at!"

The 90s in big or smeil cities in CA was not the best idea to play outside

Heh, outdoors on some days meant going over to of your friend's places and play Atari. :0P I actually lived on one of the quieter streets in town, so we could play some sports games right on the road. It was also back during the times of forts out in the woods. Ah, the good ol' days. :0)
