Using jcwhitney.com as a guide, I'd call it a bumper guard - or possibly brushbuster. The hazardous animals of SoCal would be cocker spaniels (notably brainless, and big enough to trash a front end) & deer (at night). Its primary value would be for offroading -- and since it's a street car, I'd say dump it as gas-guzzling, performance-hampering excess weight. A deer whistle, now...

You see... bullbars could work, if your route ends up getting... creative--for example, through bushes, fences, etc.

Add that much extra weight, that far forward, and you may end up going through fences and store windows when you hadn't planned on it...

It's not just gas-gobbling weight - it's weight on the EXTREME END of the car (which moves the center of gravity of the car away from center, making it harder and slower to turn), and it is actually FORWARD of the steering axle, increasing the leverage on the steering patches. Imagine tying a barstool to your stomach, seat outward, then tying a car battery to the seat and backrest. Now turn around 180 degrees. Feel that extra effort to start or stop yourself turning? Those bullbars are HEAVIER -- and on a longer torque arm!
As for "creative" driving -- if you ever NEED to get out of L.A. post-apocalypse or post-earthquake, go with a semi, garbage truck, dump truck, or bulldozer. For anything less, buy a shotgun...and keep your tank full...

I love how people are reading so much into putting bullbars on a GTX.... It's a huge, 5400lb american tank with a 440 and cart springs, the aerodynamics are already supermarket tier and it's never going to handle well or get decent mpg, might as well stick brush guards on it.

Well I think they look badass on that car.

You can't get much more American than that :D

What? They put an American flag on their car instead of the Union Jack That's treason! Nah, just kidding though!

Although If I own an American muscle car, I probably wouldn't put a bullbar on it. It just adds on the weight.
