You've got it all wrong. This pig guy showed them that they were hungry for bacon, so they got a non-sentient pig from the nearby farm that also sells cherries and walnuts.

"Well, not rea---"

Word to the wise, Pig Kid: if y'all wanna be a YouTube star just post a funny video
Of your cat like everyone else on YouTube

P.S. For anyone who didn't get my "Isabel" pun from the last comic strip,
I was referencing a character from "Woods for the trees"

Well, I never imagined a Squirrel as HUGE as Randell could climb a tree.

And, I also didn't know that predator's were permitted to devour other citizen's in your comic.

Well,.., I guess the (BACON) fat's in the fire now!

I've heard of 'pigging out', but that's just going too far!

Also, I detect yet another Pink Floyd reference!
D-Rock 24th Aug 2015, 6:34 PM edit delete reply
Well that escalated quickly.

So, the food chain still exists, I see. Doubt the rest of society will like that, though.

Tasty people need to learn discretion, especially in the wild. And non-cute tasty people most of all!
...quite the can of worms you've opened...

please let this be dream in their straving heads and not that they actually commit murder, for I really love the series but this made not want to read it anymore ;.;

It was either that or be humiliated on the Internet. I guess the pig was a d1ck,I beat some guy up,if he tried to record me. I think it was probably murder in that furry universe for eating that pig-furry.
FreyFox 25th Aug 2015, 8:52 AM edit delete reply
I should probably have titled this particular strip "Meat is Murder" going by some of the comments here. :P The furry webcomic 'The Suburban Jungle' used to cover predation extensively.
D-Rock 25th Aug 2015, 5:56 PM edit delete reply
To me, it may be due to the fact that an existing food chain was never properly established. There was that "wolves eat squirrels" thing, but that was once in passing and jokingly.

I don't mind this kind of humor in comics about anthro-animals, as it shows that even in this world, there's a point of realism.

But what hurts the case is Reggie saying it's wrong in the last strip. We don't know society's rules regarding this. That needed to be established early on.

Woods for the Trees and Housepets have covered this deal in small detail, and both established that even though the prey is fully sentient, the food chain is still in full effect.

Don't get me wrong, I found this kind of funny, but you see where people would find a problem.

Also, wow, didn't expect to write this much...

I kind off used to go to far with drawing some dark stuff.
Remember that Crappy picture if Duke the fox shoving a live chicken into
A meat juicer?

You just had Reggie say it was wrong to kill self-aware life and now he is joining in eating a pig that was a person. And was probably just as scared of dying as Reggie was.
This is no good.

Suburban Jungle stopped after a while. It got to be too grim and took away from the comic.

I have pretty mixed feelings about this comic.

It is pretty funny in a dark humorous way that the pig dick who was trying to humiliate Reggie and Randall got what he deserved. That is darkly humorous. Pass me some bacon, Reg. XD

But the whole principle of not eating a talking furry animal, like Reggie said, and going the other way around is bothering me.

But, great and funny comic as always, Keeny. ;)

The Gneech introduced the preditation theme early in Suburban Jungle so that readers would know what they were getting into, and yes he dropped it later on. It's a bit of a shock to see it this far into the life of a webcomic.

Like a few people have said above, they've lost interest in webcomics that took a dark turn. That goes for me too.
FreyFox 26th Aug 2015, 9:35 AM edit delete reply
@Kangaar I suppose the eventual outcome of this story arc can't wait a few more strips. Randall is a psychopath, so people shouldn't be surprised at what he's done. Reg meanwhile (who didn't kill the pig, but did take part in eating it) soon comes to regret this when he realises what he did, even if it was out of starvation and desperation, thus finds it harder to trust Randall afterwards.

Sometimes it is a problem waiting for scenarios to play out. I had this same issue with the Jason story and its increasing violence.
FreyFox 27th Aug 2015, 9:29 AM edit delete reply
Most people who have seen this according to journals I left on FA and DA don't have a problem with this strip, but I can understand why some people might do. I am not going to explain it all here as I've done that elsewhere.

This comic turn of event is pretty unespected... I can't believe what I read.
GoodKaptainKook 10th Dec 2015, 7:54 PM edit delete reply
...wow. Holy crap. Yeah, the pig was your typical young douchebag obsessed with going viral on Youtube (which is sadly, too common in the younger generations these days-I think of the idiots who were trying to do the "Fire Challenge" last year!)...but did he REALLY deserve to get eaten...?

It doesn't make me hate the comic strip or anything seeing something this...y'know...grim, but it's going to be harder than ever to see Randall in anything approaching a favorable light...

Just when I thought this wouldn't go to the same route like Kevin and Kell.

Sorry to disappoint :P I admit this is not a strip I'm proud of but it certainly got a lot of people talking ^^.
