Apparently Californian sun isn't enough to combat British S.A.D. :D

Some people do free time activities to be happy, other people uses "special medication" to avoid depression.

50% of the other people just buy the ones with the cute mascot. ;) Ah, American Capitalism, we're messed up. :D

@Harry We just have to rely on the NHS to give us free/cheap prescriptions!

Good thing I live in Southern California with Irvine's furcon every year. I also can get to the highway near Long Beach. I also can visit Hollywood there. You could also afford Toyotas mostly there. I can eat all the hamburgers I want.

Zoloft? It gave me insomnia, though I have to admit it did help me get through a prolonged spate of depression.

@Kangaar My anti-depressant medication gave me insomnia too when I took higher doses. Not fun at all :P I think the key with anti-depressants is balance.

From memory the doc prescribed 50mg tablets for my depression. To ease the insomnia problem I ended up breaking them in half and they still worked - I could feel a barrier preventing me from sinking into that dismal black hole of depression.

Not to mention the other "happy drug" that gets prescribed in that state.

And they also chalk it up to a rise in recreational drug use as well.

Yep...this is me! I've been taking anti-depressants for years now. I've been on Prozac for about a year now...I was having serious anxiety attacks late at night around this time last year, and that's what I ended up being prescribed. Helped out a lot :)

Of course it's all a matter of finding pills that actually work. That's the downside of medicine...you have no idea WHAT might happen once you start taking it. I took some hyperactivity pills when I was younger that made me think I had bugs crawling around under my skin and I was rubbing myself all over the FLOOR trying to get them out. Obviously couldn't keep taking that one :D

And for the record, I've never started taking pills because I liked their mascots :D

I was advised to take Prozac and was on it for three years, but stopped taking it because it wasn't really working for me. I didn't like how it messed with my sleep.
